LITERACY-  Word Study and literacy groups are now underway. Word Study assessments will be on Tuesdays. Students should know the patterns in his/her sort, and be able to recognize other words with the same pattern. We continue to enjoy books by Kevin Henkes, using his books as mentor texts. Students have learned about nouns and verbs.

MATH- Later this week we will begin a unit on addition to ten. This unit takes the number bond concept and moves it to an addition sentence using the + and = signs. So the number bond 6,3,9 becomes 6+3=9, and 3+6=9. Part of our math time is used to teach different games and activities that will be a part of math stations, when we begin those in a few weeks.

BIBLE- We have seen the Israelites worry about food and water in the wilderness, despite being led and protected by God on their journey out of Egypt. He provided them with enough food for each day. This week we will discuss how God provides for us. We will also read about the giving of The Ten Commandments to Moses, for the people. Ask your child to sing The Ten Commandments song for you!

SCIENCE- This week in Skills of the Tracker we will delve deeper into what it means to use our sense of smell. We will also make a "what we know about turtles" chart to display in our classroom.

Friday, September 25 is NOT a relaxed dress day, as many classes will have pictures taken that day.

New Parent Coffee- Thursday, Sept. 24, 8:30 am in the Lower School library. All new families to TCS are welcome. We are so glad to have you here!

School Pictures- Our class pictures will be taken on Friday, September 25th in the morning. Students should wear school uniforms.

Singapore Math event- Thursday, Oct. 1 at 4pm. This gives parents the chance to experience Singapore Math first hand.

Ivy Creek Field Trip- Thursday, Oct. 8, 8:45-11:15

Columbus Day- Monday Oct. 12, no school
