LITERACY-  Pictures from out Noun Hunt are hanging up in our classroom!  We had so much fun talking about nouns and sharing our pictures. We will begin Word Study and Literacy Groups on Wednesday. More information will be coming on that.  This week, we will begin writing in our Writing and Drawing Notebooks, which you can read at Back to School Night!

MATH-  Number bonds are ways of showing  numbers in part, part, whole models. For example, 2, 5 and 7 form a number bond, and  3,4 and 7 form another number bond for 7. We will focus on number bonds to ten. We are using cups, straws, a number balance, sorting circles and other math tools to make number bonds. Have your child make a number bond using pennies, buttons, elbow macaroni, or any other small items. Ask him/her to show you the parts and the whole.

BIBLE-  We learned that Moses trusted and obeyed God even when he didn't think he should be the one to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Next week we will see what happens as the Israelites leave Egypt."  The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) is our Bible Verse for the month of September.

SCIENCE- We will read one of my favorite books, Owl Moon. This book will facilitate our discussion on what it means to be a tracker.  Additionally, we will continue reading and talking about box turtles.  Students wrote about their prior experiences with turtles this past week.  These will also be on display at Back to School Night.
