LITERACY- We will be focusing on contractions in grammar. Each student is reviewing his/ her hope and dream for first grade. Some students are choosing a new goal for the rest of first grade. Ask your child what his/ her goal is.
MATH- We will be continuing to add and subtract numbers through 20 using the language of tens, ones and place value. Practice doubles up to 12, and math facts to 10, (or 20 if facts to 10 have been mastered) with your child.
BIBLE- January's Bible verse is Psalm 24: 1-2- "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world and all who live in it, for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters." We learned about King Solomon this week. We will read some of his Proverbs and then learn about Elijah. See if your child remembers what King Solomon asked God for.
HISTORY- Students are enjoying their study of Ancient Egypt. We learned that men and women of Ancient Egypt made themselves look beautiful by doing certain things....ask your child what things! We will focus on pharaohs, mummies and pyramids in the coming week or two.

February 13-16- Winter break- If more than 2 days have been missed due to snow, we will have school on Feb. 13
