LITERACY- Students are enjoying our first read-aloud chapter book of the year, The Boxcar Children. We talk about characters, setting, plot, and vocabulary as we read. We've been working on adding details to our pictures during Writing Workshop, as pictures help to tell the story.
MATH- Math stations give us practice in things we have already learned. We work on number bonds and fact families, addition and subtraction, patterns, shapes and games that require math strategies. For the next few weeks, we'll be working on addition and subtraction through 20.
BIBLE- November's Bible verse is... I love You, O Lord my strength. The Lord is my fortress, my rock and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. Psalm 18: 1-2 We will be learning more about Samuel, and Saul. We will also read Bible verses having to do with being thankful to God, as Thanksgiving approaches. Don't forget Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! We will pray for each box that comes in, before we stack them out in the front hall.
HISTORY- Our first unit of study is the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia, which will be followed by a study of Ancient Egypt. Students are familiar with these civilization through things they've been working on in art class with Mr. Austin.
