Bible- We will learn about David's friendship with Jonathan, how he made King Saul jealous, and then became king. We will read parts of some of David's psalms. Our Bible verse for November is Psalm 18:1-3, "I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge."

History- Ask your child why Ancient Egypt was long and narrow. They should tell you that it followed the Nile River, which was shaped like this.  This week we will learn about pharaohs. Ancient Egyptians believed the pharaohs were gods.

Literacy- During the rest of the month we'll be noticing different kind of sentences in the books we read, and trying some of our own...interrogative (form a question,) declarative (state a fact,) exclamatory (show emotion,) and imperative (make a request or command.)

Math- First grade is beginning to implement math work stations into our daily routine. We are introducing and practicing at various stations to prepare. The following areas will be represented in our stations: number bonds, math games, math literacy, patterning, pattern blocks, probability, geometry, estimation, and measurement.
