Bible- We will learn about Sampson this week. The story of Ruth and Naomi will come after that. Our Bible verse for October is Joshua 1:9..."Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord will be with you wherever you go."
History- After working on map skills this past week, we will begin our unit on Mesopotamia, often referred to as "the cradle of civilization." We will trace maps of that area. We'll focus on the importance of agriculture and cities in making civilization possible.
Literacy- Students are enjoying our read-aloud, The Boxcar Children. Writing Workshop is a wonderful time for us to write in our journals, hear each other's stories and ask questions of, and comment on them. Word Study spell checks will be on Thursday, due to Fall Break.
Math- We will continue to practice writing addition sentences, using stories, pictures, and number bonds to help us. Look for things to add at home. Help your child memorize addition facts (number bonds) to 10.
