Bible- We will learn about Gideon and Sampson this week. Our Bible verse for October is Joshua 1:9..."Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord will be with you wherever you go."

History- We will learn map skills, which will help us in our history studies. We'll talk about directions, locate oceans, continents, countries, Mexico, and Canada. Our first history study is Mesopotamia, "the cradle of civilization." We will look at maps of that area.

Literacy- Our first read-aloud chapter book will start this week, The Boxcar Children. We will use end of the day time to read from this classic story. We will learn what adjectives are, and notice them in books we read. We'll try to use them in our writing.

Math- We are moving on to adding numbers to 10. Number bonds have helped students see that numbers can be broken down into parts. Look for things to add at home. Help your child to memorizing addition facts (number bonds) to 10.
