BibleThis week we will learn about God calling Moses up the mountain to give him the Commandments. We'll also learn about His instructions for building a tabernacle. Listening to the story of the Israelites, we see how God provides food and drink for them. We know that He provides for our each and every need, as well.

Science- We just finished learning about the rainforest habitat. This week we will learn about deserts and begin learning about grasslands/prairies. Ask your student what they know about the rainforest!

Literacy- Word Study and literacy groups are under way. Your child is being taught according to his/her individual ability. Please be sure to practice words at home each evening. We continue to read books by the author Kevin Henkes, and look for different writing and drawing techniques that he uses. We have learned that a noun is a word that is a person, place, thing or animal. This week we'll introduce verbs, action words. Three times a week we have Writing Workshop in the afternoon; Dr. Gaffney teaches one of those times.

Math- This week our unit on number bonds begins. Number bonds consist of two parts and a whole. For example, the number bonds for 6 are: 4 and 2; 5 and 1; 3 and 3. Understanding number bonds is essential for success in adding and subtracting larger numbers, and very helpful for mental math.
