Math- This week we will be solving some problems about length. Then we will learn about different kinds of graphs. Have a hundred chart at home and keep it in a page protector. (If you need one, let me know.) Have your child find numbers on the chart. Ask him/her how to add 23 + 35 counting by tens and ones. You can even make your own place value chart at home!
Literacy- In Literacy groups, we are practicing our poems for the Poetry Festival. Students wrote about their trip to Ash Lawn and that writing will be up on the hall bulletin board soon. We are working on thank you notes for the wonderful guides at Ash Lawn. Word Study groups are working on long vowels.
Bible- March's Bible verse is Matthew 28:5-6- "And the angel said to the women. 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He is risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where He lay.' We learned about Palm Sunday and the Last Supper. Next week we will learn about Jesus' death and resurrection.
History- Our unit on the 12 Colonies had a great jumpstart with our trip to Ash Lawn. I am reading aloud Revolutionary War on Wednesday and it is teaching us a lot about the Revolutionary War. Ask your child about the Patriots' surprise attack on Christmas night.
