LITERACY During Writing Workshop students have been choosing topics to write about. Topics have included siblings, a basketball game, a favorite stuffed animal, a camping trip, and raking leaves. After we write, we have an Author Share. Sometimes a few authors share their work with the whole class. Sometimes we share with a partner or around the table. Students ask, "What else would you like to know?" to their classmates.

MATH- We will begin a unit on subtraction. During the unit, students will practice counting back, counting on and taking away to subtract. They will write and solve subtraction sentences and learn about fact families.

BIBLE- October's Bible verse is: "I love you O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge."- Psalm 18:1-2 Next week we will learn the beautiful story of Ruth.

SCIENCE- Students have been very excited about our chapter book Samantha Loses the Box Turtle. We will finish the book this week and also complete out turtle web.
