LITERACY- Students are enjoying our literacy and word study times in their groups. Please remember that your child will be coming home with a new word study sort each Wednesday. H/she should cut, sort, write the words, and play games with them at home. If your child has come home with sight words, they should be reviewed each night. We have also been writing more stories in our Writing and Drawing books and talking about how we can borrow ideas from authors (they are our mentors!)
MATH- This week we have introduced many math activities that will be a part of Math Stations, which we start in a few weeks. Each activity reinforces a skill students have been taught. We will continue our unit on addition for a few days and then begin a subtraction unit. Help your child look for math in different places!
BIBLE- We learned about Joshua, the new leader of the Israelites after Moses died. We will learn about Gideon next week and discuss our new Bible verse: "I love you O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge."- Psalm 18:1-2
SCIENCE- Dr. Bellows, our guest turtle expert, came to visit us on Thursday! We learned new vocabulary and fun facts about turtles. We also enjoyed writing thank you notes to her, which included two things we learned. Tuesday and Wednesday we will review tracking skills in preparation for our hikes in Ivy Creek on Thursday.
