LITERACY-  We are reading Charlotte's Web aloud. Through the story we learn more about character, setting, and plot. Equally important in the story are the wonderful examples of friendship, loyalty, kindness and humility. It is a story full of truth, beauty and goodness, things we strive to focus on here at Covenant. Please help us by not allowing your child to watch the movie, if they haven't already, until we finish reading the book!!

MATH-  We continue to work on skills we've learned all year including time, addition, and subtraction, in math centers. We are practicing some mental math and recalling math facts to ten.

BIBLE-  May's Bible Verse is Nehemiah 9:5-6  "Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise."   We learned, through the story of Saul, that God can indeed change hearts. Next week we'll learn about John's vision of heaven as revealed in a dream.

SCIENCE- Skills of the Tracker 1 will be our science focus for the rest of May. This unit is written by Chris Hall and it continues in second and third grades. The activities will help students learn how to be more aware and attentive to God's creation all around them.
