LITERACY-  Each literacy group is memorizing a poem for the Poetry Festival on April 2nd. Every student will participate. This is a great way for us to focus on expression, volume, fluency, pace and punctuation. We hope you have the Festival on your calendar!

MATH- We are comparing the weight of objects. Stations include interpreting a graph, playing a game with the doubles plus one strategy, chess, Kakooma online, comparing the weight of objects, time, and adding and subtracting using a hundreds chart.

BIBLE-  March's Bible verse is Matthew 28:5-6--The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." The story of Easter will be taught in six lessons. We are writing an Easter book, which will be read to our Book Buddies on April 2. Next week we will learn about Jesus' night in the Garden of Gethsemane and the crucifixion.

**During Wednesday's chapel, students were told about a school-wide food collection for the local Food Bank. They were challenged to each bring in 3 items a piece during the next two weeks. Dr. Gaffney challenged the students to use their own money to buy the food- through an allowance, or doing chores to earn money. In class we discussed healthy items to bring in, including cans of tuna, beans, fruit and vegetables as well as boxes of cereal, and bags of rice. After we read about Jesus washing His disciples' feet, we discussed ways to serve others and shared how we have already served others. This is a great hands-on opportunity for the students to experience serving others.

HISTORY- Tuesday's trip to Ash Lawn will begin our unit called From Colonies to Independence.
