LITERACY- We will not introduce a new word sort next week, as there are evening activities for you to attend, instead of working on words in the evening! Each group will be playing games and doing activities that review skills learned so far. Be sure your child keeps reading over the break!
MATH- During calendar time we look at the clock, and have learned that you count by 5's around the clock, to figure out how many minutes past the hour it is. We will practice telling the hour, and then putting hours and minutes together. During the two weeks of break, do some math with your child...practice math facts to 10, tell time, work together on Greg Tang's website (www.gregtangmath.com), and look for math everywhere (speed limit signs, grocery stores, coupons, etc.)
BIBLE- December's Bible verse is Isaiah 9:6- -For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders, and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.-- Our Jesse Tree is fully decorated and I will send the ornaments home on Thursdaywith your child to hang on your tree. Next week, we will read The Crippled Lamb, a beautiful Christmas story.
HISTORY- We learned that like the Mesopotamians who built their cities around the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, Egyptians built along water too, the Nile River. Next week and in January, we will focus on pharoahs, mummies and pyramids.
