Bible- We learned about Elijah showing King Ahab and his people that God, not Baal, is the one true god. This week we will learn about another godly man, Elisha

History- We have learned about the land of Mexico, its volcanoes, earthquakes, mountains, and cities. We've learned about its flag. This week we will begin learning about the people and their culture.

Literacy- During Writing Workshop, we are focusing on writing about small moments. For example, instead of writing about all of our Christmas vacation, we narrowed it down to one specific thing about our vacation. Students have also been working on writing their hopes and dreams for the rest of the school year.

Math- We are learning about place value. We are discovering that the number 17 is not a 1 and a 7. Rather, it is a 10 and 7. Math work stations reinforce our current topic, and give us practice with our number bonds, patterning, counting, and other math skills.

We go outside for recess even when it is very cold. Please be sure to send a hat and mittens for your child. Please don't send gloves unless your child can put them on by him/herself. Thanks!
